Vibration Analysis
In our ever-changing world of increased productivity and downsizing, the need for on-line reliability and scheduled maintenance downtime to prevent catastrophic failures is eminent. Vibration Analysis technology has provided a powerful tool for technicians to monitor and diagnose problems as well as establishes an idea of how much life is expected. Also, routine monitoring of equipment provides a trend over the life of a particular machine that allows alarms to be triggered when a change within the machine occurs. Once this change is noted, the problem can be trended to allow the unit to operate for a period of time until failure modes or fault alarms are reached at which repairs can be made during a planned shut-down.

This type of operation allows maintenance on an as required basis. This allows prioritizing and scheduling maintenance based on need while reducing costs by eliminating the demand for emergency repairs and replacing only defective parts during overhauls. Another benefit of Vibration Analysis is ensuring new equipment meets specifications at start up. If not, problems can be corrected during the warranty period of the equipment.

Inventory is another area which can be affected by reducing spare parts inventory, qualifying vendor's equipment based on total life-cycle costs and ensuring equipment meets specification at start up.

Providing basic data for machine life cycle costs evaluations can be calculated by providing failure history data, repair cost data for a machine or a particular fault and cross machine repair and fault history.
